 eQuotes is a popular and highly-rated Joomla! extension released under the GNU/GPL license. It provides comprehensive administration and display of quotations on Joomla! powered sites.


eQuotes is derived from DailyQuotes and Random Quotes. While each of these extensions does one thing well, the goal for eQuotes is to grow into a full-featured quotes extension. This is done by combining the best of each with additional features. Quotations are displayed using the eQuotes module. The optional eQuotes Component provides additional database management features.

Module Features

  • Display one or more quotes in one or more modules.
  • Rotate quotes daily or randomly.
  • A set of text files containing sample quotes is automatically included and immediately available for display.
  • A simple text file field delimiter format is used for fast and easy editing.
  • Individual elements, such as quotation marks, the actual quotation, the quotation's author, and source can be individually styled via CSS tags.
  • The active Joomla template's CSS file is used for quotation CSS display, thus ensuring easy integration of quotations with the overall site design.
  • Each module can be set to pull from a different source, including various text files or the database. This allows you to display different quotes on different pages.
  • Each published eQuotes module can use separate CSS tags.
  • The optional eQuotes Component provides Joomla! database and search integration. For quick and dirty work, there is no need to install the component. The module works as soon as it is published using a customizable set of text files.

Component Features

  • Stores quotations in the main Joomla database.
  • Provides secure back end administration functions.
  • Enables an optional Joomla menu item to display quotations within a page's main content area.

Search Plugin Features

  • Adds quotations stored in the database to user searches.
  • Searches the following database fields: quote, author, and source.
  • Does not include unpublished quotes.
  • Note: Quotes stored in text files are not included in searches.
